General Information
Network Topology Maps Check out the ISP & Internet Backbone maps links on this page.
Internet Traffic Report The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and more reliable connections. Your Internet surfing safari may be smooth today, but perhaps you can't reach Yahoo or a few web sites in Europe. This informative web site will tell you if those regions of the Internet are currently slowed down. By checking the Internet Traffic Report, you can determine if your problems are global or local. This site updates its statistics every 15 minutes.
ICANN The non-profit corporation responsible for IP address allocation, protocol parameter assignment, and domain name and root server system management functions.
gTLD-MoU The Generic Top Level Domain Memorandum of Understanding (gTLD-MoU) is the international framework in which policies for the administration and enhancement of the Internet's generic Domain Name System (DNS) are developed and deployed.
Country Coded Top Level Domains The official list of all country-specific top level domains, plus links to where you can apply for a domain in each country.
Network Solutions Whois Use this InterNIC/Network Solutions form to find technical details about registered domain names.
StatMarket This site is updated daily and based on statistics from over 65,000 sites. Everything from search engines, browsers to screen resolutions, ISPs.

DNS
DNS and Resolvers A directory site including many links to DNS FAQs, examples, documentation and DNS tools.
DNS: THE DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM The Domain Name System (DNS) is a distributed database used by TCP/IP applications to map between hostnames and IP addresses, and to provide e-mail routing information. This illustrated tutorial, written by Meir Galperin and Ira Gordin, explains how the DNS works.

SANS Institute This is the most comprehensive security resource site I've ever visited.  The SANS Institute site features: system and security alerts and news updates, special research projects and publications, in-depth education and security certification.  Many SANS resources, such as news digests, research summaries, award-winning papers and security alerts, are available for free to all who ask.  The SANS Institute is an organization through which more than 96,000 system administrators, security professionals, and network administrators share the lessons they are learning and find solutions for challenges they face.  The core of the Institute is the many security practitioners in government agencies, corporations, and universities around the world who invest hundreds of hours each year in research and teaching to help the entire SANS community.
The Evolution of Malicious Agents This interesting April 2000 paper by Lenny Zeltser examines the evolution of malicious agents by analyzing features and limitations of popular viruses, worms, and trojans, detailing the possibility of a new breed of malicious agents currently being developed on the Internet.
